What kind of credentials do you have?

I am a bachelor prepared Registered Nurse with over 15 years of experience. My work history includes hospital bedside, clinic, community, and classroom time. I have cared for pediatrics as well as adults in settings ranging from community care to cardiovascular intensive care.

I am also a certified Wilderness First Responder (WFR) and maintain basic life support (BLS) and CPR certifications. The Wilderness First Responder course is the industry standard for professional guides, leaders, and trainers that prepares the individual to respond to backcountry emergencies and make critical evacuation decisions.

The above qualifies me to take care of YOU in an emergency and so that I know how to take care of Mother Earth I also continue my education with Leave No Trace (http:www.lnt.org).

What kind of outdoor experience do you have?

I have had the opportunity to backpack and hike in multiple states and countries over the years. Some of my backpacking experience includes:

  • Multiple Appalachian Trail (AT) sections

  • Virginia Triple Crown

  • Wonderland Trail thru-hike

  • Banff/Canadian Rockies

  • Yellowstone backcountry

I have enjoyed every thing from extremely remote backcountry areas to front country car camping. I love to hike locally as much as I love to travel see new pieces of the wild wilderness.

Can my child attend a course?

Youth (at least age 16) are allowed to attend in person courses and trips. A parent (or adult) is required to enroll in the course and attend with the youth.

How do I know that you will recommend the right gear to me?

I love to learn about new gear and test it out! This love lead me to seek out an opportunity to work at an outdoor gear pro shop. During my time there I was trained on proper fitting techniques for packs, attended product in-services and have even gotten to be a field tester for packs in a premanufacture/developmental phase for a major outdoor brand.
